| Project International Elite Soccer Academy With Watford FC |
Welcome to the 16th year of PISA (Project International Soccer Academy) endorsed by "Kelme Sports" run in conjunction with Watford Football Club (English Championship League).
PISA is delighted to have joined forces with Championship English Side Watford Football Club for the past 4 years. They will be heavily involved with the planning and the coaching side of the program which again combines the excellent - and unique - mix of soccer and English.
In 2012, the Elite Soccer Academy will again be based at Epsom College and offers a really high quality program with top level coaching.
The Elite Soccer Academy is designed for those who play regular soccer to a good standard and it is an intensive course. For those who do not play to quite such a high standard, we strongly recommend a more recreational soccer camp instead. If the PISA staff see at the beginning of the camp that you have a beginner level or just want recreational soccer camp during the course, they will transfer you to a more recreational camp in a different location. (After registration you will need to fill out a soccer ability form)
PISA has welcomed football loving youngsters from the USA, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, Egypt, South Africa, Russia, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Italy, Finland, Switzerland, Spain, Morocco, Israel, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Latvia, Mali, China, the Maldives and the UAE. The youngsters gel as a group through the games, tournaments, skill sessions and simply through the communal living; this has resulted in some notable victories for Academy teams in the matches organized against local English club teams.
| English As a Foreign Language (Optional) |
The English Program is a central part of the package PISA provide.
Students have 15 hours contact time per week and there are generallyno more than 15 students in a class.
A lot of emphasis is placed in lessons on trying to get the students to interact and converse in English as much as possible. This is facilitated by providing students with interesting topics and communicative activities that help to stimulate and encourage language use. Each centre has a Director of Studies who coordinates the English program. This involves organizing the testing on the first morning, monitoring the day-to-day teaching, providing advice and assistance to teachers, and meeting with representatives of the various groups at the centre.
There is also an overall Project International English Coordinator who visits each centre regularly to check that the English program is running well and of a high standard.
There is a separate teaching syllabus for PISA lower and higher level students. This clearly states what topics the students are going to cover in each lesson and how much of the course will be devoted to either communicative language use or grammatical development. PISA teachers all follow the syllabus, however, there is sufficient flexibility built in to allow teachers the opportunity to integrate their own ideas and materials.
PISA has a wide range of communicative resource materials and textbooks available to PISA's teachers. These are full of interesting and exciting language activities that PISA teachers use with the students.
Textbooks commonly used are OK, Clockwise, and Accelerate.
The additional resource materials PISA has at each centre include the following:
- Timesaver Grammar Activities
- Jet Primary 1, 2, and 3
- Timesaver London
- Timesaver Plays
- Timesaver Storyboard
- Timesaver Project work
- Timesaver Customs and Lifestyles in the UK and Ireland
- Timesaver Listening
- Timesaver Newspaper Articles
- Timesaver Speaking Activities: Advanced
- Reward Starter, Pre-Intermediate, and Upper-Intermediate
- Project International Ideas Book
Those not taking the EFL English Classes option have supervised multi activity sessions. These include tennis, swimming, water polo, volleyball, basketball, squash, table tennis, badminton, and lots more!
A end of course certificate is awarded to each student with some added comments made by their teacher.
