| FAQ's |
What kit do I need?
Try to bring enough kit to last you for your stay. Kit can include t-shirts or football shirts, shorts, socks, soccer shoes, trainers, shinpads and a drinks bottle. Please try and wear-in your soccer shoes before visiting the school. Some new soccer shoes can often give you very sore feet. Moulded studs are probably more suitable for BCSSA summer time courses. You will also need casual clothes for your tour of a Premiership Club and your visit to Parrswood Entertainment Centre and of course, toiletries.
A laundry service is available for £10. Please ensure that all belongings are named including shoes and shinpads as many children will possess the same replica shirts and shoes and this will help if they get lost.
Do I need any money?
Parents and Guardians always ask BCSSA how much pocket money is required. The amount that players bring varies widely. The following is a guide only. A small amount of pocket money is all that is required for the tuck shop. The cost of evening visit to Parrswood Entertainment Complex is generally under £10. Many players like to purchase football merchandise on the days that the camp visit a Premiership Club
BCSSA recommend that all residents deposit their money and any valuables in BCSSA Soccer Schools bank for security. The bank is open daily to withdraw funds
Can I stay with my child on the course?
Generally BCSSA do not encourage parents or guardians to stay in the Hotel with the children. However, if your child is young or has a medical condition and you wish to check if BCSSA has availability for you to share a room with your child, then please contact us. We can provide a list of local hotels, a number of which are within walking distance of the residential site.
Are the staff qualified?
All BCSSA staff are qualified FA/UEFA soccer coaches, BCSSA coaches range from Level 2 to A License. All staff are CRB checked and have FA safeguarding children certificate. All coaches have emergency First Aid Certification.
Where is the residential?
The residential is based at Parrswood Campus, Disdsbury, Manchester.
Will my child be woken up in the morning?
The coaching staff will wake up all the children everyday before breakfast.
How can I contact my child during the residential course?
BCSSA will have an office on site, and you will be issued with a mobile phone number which BCSSA course director will answer between 8am and midnight GMT should you have any concerns at all. For incoming calls BCSSA can arrange for your child to be in the office to speak to you, this would normally be early evening. If their phones permit it, many of BCSSA International visitors buy British sim cards. If your child is travelling from an international destination BCSSA will encourage them to contact you when they arrive. Please feel free at any time to contact our office by phone or email.
Is there a Physio' available?
BCSSA usea the services of a Physiotherapist who is based adjacent to the Campus and they are only ever a phone call away..
How are the children divided for coaching?
BCSSA understand that not all children of the same age play at the same level or are the same ability. Children are first positioned into age groups at the start of each week. BCSSA then do their best to ensure that if your child needs to be in a higher group that they are moved up. This will always depend on the mix of players and their ages that attend our camp on the given week.
My child has not played football before would he/she be OK on the course?
Yes, BCSSA has various abilities attending and BCSSA cater for every level from beginners to academy players. As long as the player is prepared to active and outdoors in many types of weather, they will be fine.
