INTRODUCTION:

In 2010 CMT Learning are hosting Soccer and English language courses, in association with the world famous Manchester United Soccer Schools. Together, they offer a unique course where young players can develop their soccer skills and improve their understanding of the English language at the same time.

This is Manchester United Soccer Schools' main language base, situated at Myerscough College, Greater Manchester - just 30 miles from the home of Manchester United coaching, Old Trafford. The course is designed for boys aged from 9 to 17 year olds.

The programme includes an excursion to the “Theatre of Dreams” - Manchester United‘s famous Old Trafford stadium tour. Visit the changing room, the museum, walk down the tunnel and into this amazing arena. This fantastic two week programme combines up to 20 hours of professional soccer coaching per week with 12 hours of high quality English language tuition. In week 2 of the course, you will have the opportunity to play in matches against English junior clubs from the Manchester area.

You will also have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the excellent facilities and wonderful surroundings of Myerscough College.

Compete in one of the skills challenges and you could be walking out in front of 76,000 fans.

On Manchester United Soccer Schools Residential Courses you will take part in a number of unique skills challenges. Designed using the club’s coaches and players, these challenges are specifically tailored so all participants, regardless of age, can compete on level terms.

One player from each MUSS Residential course will be selected to experience a once in a lifetime prize at the World Skills Final held in Manchester (around October/November). This event includes the following:

Tour of the Trafford Training Centre, Carrington

Participate in the World Skills competition

Play on the famous Old Trafford pitch

Attend a Premier League game

Watch Manchester United Academy games

The challenges are also a great way to improve your skills. If you can practice these techniques in your spare time you will give yourself a great chance of developing into a better player.

Soccer:

The Manchester United Soccer Schools programme gives young players of all standards an introduction to life as a young professional.

MUSS coaching staff share a passion for the game that is transferred through to all participants.

Players will be allowed to express themselves, play without fear of making mistakes, be encouraged to make their own decisions and discover the enjoyment of football.

MUSS understand that children learn in different ways and their coaches are trained to deliver their syllabus to all types of personalities and abilities so that each player can achieve their highest level of performance. This interactive course is centered on the principles of the MUSS Code of Conduct:

English Language Classes:

The English classes are taught by Ardmore; a British-Council accredited centre and a member of the world-leading language training organisation. All the Soccer School classes are taught by a team of qualified and enthusiastic teachers.

The first class of each day (90 mins) is general English. The focus of these classes is to help students communicate naturally and learn useful vocabulary and phrases on a different topic every day. The classes include fun group activities and incorporate unique Ardmore material designed especially for kids and teenagers.

The second class is called 'The English language and Football Hour' (60 mins) and is all about football! Ardmore has written some exciting booklets especially for these classes. Students will have the chance to communicate in English about famous players, teams, stadiums and their own football experiences.

Junior English Study Holidays for young people to experience life in the UK while improving their English language skills and Manchester United English lessons.

There are also special English language and soccer projects to complete during the organized visits to The National Football Museum and Old Trafford.

Classes are normally divided into age categories of 9 - 13 and 14 - 17 years. The maximum number of students per class is 16. All students will receive an end-of-course certificate with comments on their performance in the classes.

Airport Transfer Information:

CMT learning provides a negotiated transfer service from Manchester International (MAN) Airport to the residential facility. All transfers must be pre-arranged (arrivals between 11:00 and 17:00 (5pm); departures between 07:00 and 16:00 (4pm)). After collecting their luggage, students proceed through customs. Students are then met by a representative of CMT who will be displaying a large sign or have a camp T-shirt. Students are transported by security checked drivers.

You will need to inform us in writing of the arrival and departure time and flight details as soon as possible.

It is of vital importance that all necessary flight/train details are sent to Soccer Camps International with the booking form or as soon as available. MUSS requires the exact flight information, including dates, airlines, flight numbers, arrival and departure terminal, and flight times.
